Admission Information
Welcome to Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services. In order to make you or your loved one's stay here more comfortable, we have provided the following information to answer the most frequently asked questions. We want our patients to be well-informed participants in their treatment.
Residential Admissions/Referrals
Family Involvement
Family Involvement is an essential part of treatment. With the patient's consent, a clinician will contact their family to provide treatment information and, when appropriate, arrange for family therapy.
Visitation and Phones
Visitation and phone times are during specific hours of the day. The patient handbook indicates all visitation and phone times. All visitors must sign in and check all packages at the reception desk and at the unit's nursing station.
Discharge Planning
Discharge Planning begins on the day of admission. At the time of discharge, the patient will be provided with information regarding outpatient services that best meets his or her needs.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted inside the building. Adolescents are not permitted to smoke at any time.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is an important right of all patients seeking treatment. Due to this matter, we cannot discuss any other person's treatment with you. Therefore, a patient’s treatment will not be discussed with anyone not directly involved in their treatment. Any individual not directly involved in the patient’s treatment will not be granted any information without the patient’s written consent. All patients are given a confidential identification number that must be used by anyone wishing to contact that patient while in the hospital.
Safety Safety of all patients, visitors and staff is of the utmost importance to us. We ask that all contraband and valuables be sent home at the time of admission. The hospital maintains a safe for valuables if they are unable to be sent home. Upon admission, the unit staff will perform a thorough search of the patient and their belongings and secure any contraband that may be discovered. Contraband consists of items such as: weapons, lighters, drugs, breakable items, cellular phones, laptop computers, beepers, products containing alcohol, sharps, and personal medications. Insurance, Authorization and Billing Insurance, Authorization and Billing will be explained by a consultant from the Business Office. The Assessment and Referral Center will ensure that insurance benefits are verified by Patient Accounting and will pre-certify the hospital stay with the insurance company. The hospital’s Case Management and Utilization Review Department will maintain contact with your insurance company for authorization of continued stays. Please do not hesitate to speak with one of our staff concerning your insurance coverage.
Patients Rights and Hospital Ethics Patient Rights and Hospital Ethics are of the utmost importance to us. Every person who is admitted to Old Vineyard will receive a copy of the Patient Bill of Rights that outlines all of the patient’s rights while in the facility. Patients have the right to be informed about treatment expectations, progress and outcomes. It is our policy to fully disclose to the patient all outcomes of care, including adverse occurrences and outcomes that differ significantly from expectations. Patients that do not agree with their treatment plan or feel that their patient rights have been violated may utilize the hospital’s grievance procedure. The Patient Advocate will be notified and will meet with the patient regarding their complaint. In the event that the Patient Advocate cannot resolve their concern, it will be reviewed by hospital administration. Old Vineyard Youth Services operates by an Organizational Code of Ethics, which addresses treatment of patients, clinical decision-making, marketing and billing practices. The hospital has a standing Ethics Committee that meets regularly to discuss any ethical concerns.
