The Pride Unit for males ages 12-17 with a full IQ between 80 and 85 is a specialized treatment program for adolescent males who engage in sexually abusive and sexually aggressive behaviors towards others, in addition to general behavioral/ psychiatric problems that require the youth to be placed in a secure and safe environment because the youth cannot be maintained safely in the community.

This program is designed to treat residents who have mild MR/DD, learning disabilities, lower functioning and/or severe social deficits. A combination of cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT), trauma focused cognitive behavioral treatment (TF-CBT), and sex-offense specific treatment programming are used in treating patients.

This program admits youth based upon three principles:

1) risk for sexual dangerousness

2) the special psychiatric and treatment needs of the youth

3) the responsivity principle ~ that the treatment and interventions match the needs and characteristics of the youth.
